Happy New Year!!

Yesterday I received a note from a friend, wishing me “light, love, health and happiness” for this new year. I think that’s what it’s all about, so I want o extend these wishes to all of you out there.

Jury Duty

A few days ago I received a jury summons in the mail. An order to appear in court on December 27.

The jury summons made me think about our justice system and my feelings toward it. Aside from the many quotes in the bible, recommending not to judge so you will not be judged, like Lukas 6:37-42, there are some like Leviticus 19:15 in the Old Testament, suggesting: “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor”. I am not much of a religious person, but either way, I feel utterly unqualified to judge a fellow human being.
